Maybe this is the reason why Courtroom drama is a big hit formula for Bollywood. Movies like Ghayal, Damini, Pink and much more have a special place in the hearts of Indian audience just because of their courtroom scenes. We all have grown up listening “Taarikh pe Taarikh” dialogue by Sunny Deol. Admit it, in our childhood, we wanted to say, My Lord’, ‘Objection, your honor’ etc. dialogues. While many gIve up but few decide to pursue their dream as a lawyer after their school. Because career of a lawyer is not only fascinating but it also comes up with big responsibilities and a lot of respect from society.

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is conducted every year and those who pass this exam are then admitted to one of the prestigious 17 Law Schools of the country where they pursue their undergraduate programme where they go through 5 years of integrated LLB degree (BSC/BA/BCOM+Law studies) programme.

  1. CLAT Eligibility
a. Candidate should have educational qualification till Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent exam with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in the case of Reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) and candidates with Physical Disability) for undergraduate programme.
b.     There is no age limit.
c.   Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination can also appear provisionally. However, they have to produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination before or at the time of admission with elaborated mark sheet.
d.  Candidate with compartment or supplementary in any subject in the qualifying examination will not be eligible for admission.

  1.  Syllabus
 .              English including comprehension: The English section tests the proficiency of the candidate in the English language based on comprehension passages and grammar.

  1. Understanding of passage and its central theme.
  2. Meaning of words and their use.
  1. Correction of incorrect grammatical sentences.
  2. Fill in the blanks with appropriate words.

    1. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: The General knowledge will be evaluated on the following basis:-
i.                Static general knowledge i.e from History, Geography, General Science, Political Science.
ii.                National and International topics of current affairs.
c.            Mathematics: This section tests the knowledge of candidate’s elementary mathematics, i.e., maths up to 10th Standard.
d.            Legal Aptitude:
 .                Research aptitude and problem-solving ability.
i.                Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper),
ii.                Set of facts. Some propositions may not be “true” in the real life but the candidate will have to assume the “truth” and answer the questions according to that.
e.            Logical Reasoning:
 .                Ability to identify patterns.
i.                Logical links and rectification of illogical arguments.
                    
ii.         The questions will include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.
iii.  Variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.
                   Note:     Visual reasoning will not be tested.
   3. Exam Pattern
  • Total questions: 200
  • Total Marks: 200 (1 mark against each question)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative marking: 0.25 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer
