Tips to Crack DU LLB Entrance Exam

As we all know that, DU LLB exam is something that we have seen every student confused with. In this article, I will clear all the common myths and misconceptions existing in every student’s mind regarding this popular law entrance exam. Along with that, I will also offer some important preparation tips and strategies that, I have been very effective in the past when it comes to clearing DU LLB Entrance Exam.

Tips to Crack DU LLB Exam - Maansarovar Law Centre
First of all, you have to realize that DU LLB selection test is just for admission to Delhi University's Faculty of Law. Delhi University offers just multi-year LLB degrees, which implies you should be a graduate or going to end up a graduate to consider composing the DU LLB exam. It doesn't make a difference which stream you are graduating in. The only criterion that DU has is that you should be a graduate from a recognized university, and should have scored more than 50% in aggregate in your graduate.

The DU LLB exam has a syllabus focus which is not the same as other Law placement tests. It focuses heavily on four major areas – Legal Aptitude, Indian Constitution (Polity with a focus on legal aspects), GK and Current Affairs. I will talk about this in more detail in the Tips below but remember that for this exam, the preparation style and subjects of focus need to be different. An analysis of the last 10 years of papers reveals the following rough pattern of marks distribution:

Sr. No.                                            SUBJECTS                                MARKS
1                                  Legal Aptitude + Constitution                             30%
2                                 General Knowledge and Current Affairs              30%

3                                  English Including Comprehension                       20 %

4                                  Logical Reasoning                                               15%

5                                  Elementary Arithmetic                                          5%

This marks distribution table itself reveals some important insights. Below I have provided a few important preparation tips and strategies that should be very useful to you as a student in your studies for DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018
1. Do NOT neglect Legal Aptitude and Constitution – The DU LLB exam has a strong focus on Legal Aptitude and Indian Polity, especially as it relates to the legal aspects. You should aim to develop a good understanding of the Indian Constitution, its structure, sections, and schedules. Further, you should also have a good overview of the IPC and the CrPC. For most students, this is going to be completely new content. The Polity part might still be familiar for those who prepared for Civil Services or SSC exams, but for others, this will require detailed and intense study.

2. GK and Current Affairs  Unfortunately, there is no defined syllabus for this area of the paper. Anyone who claims that they will prepare you for 100% of the questions asked in the GK and Current Affairs section is lying! If you are confident of 80-85% of the questions asked in the GK/Current Affairs section, you should consider your preparation excellent.

3.Basic Arithmetic – Many students feel that their Math is too weak, and they have heard that this is an important part of the DU LLB exam. So they do not have confidence while approaching the paper. In reality, the DU LLB exam has a very small component of Math – perhaps 5 to 7 questions out of a total of 175. These are usually simple questions based on Class X level concepts.

4.Books for Preparation – There are a number of books commonly available across bookstores that cover preparation for the DU LLB entrance. However, I would advise a little bit of caution in choosing to prepare exclusively from these books. In our experience, most of the books available are not of good quality and contain several errors, especially in the all-important Legal Aptitude and GK sections. This is of crucial importance because you as a student would not know that you are studying a wrong concept and would use the same fundamentals in the exam. And the exam has negative marking, so such errors are strongly penalized. Hence, please exercise your judgment in selecting a book for studying from
5. Writing Mock Tests – Mocks form is an important part of the exam preparation. Search for a good online mock test series, and aim to write at least 6-8 mock tests before the actual exam  – including the time limit and reproduce conditions as much as possible.
